Everyone needs to stop what they’re doing this instant and watch the Morbius trailer.
Morbius is the new Marvel film we can expect from the Sony Marvel Universe (which is not to be confused with the MCU… Which Spider-Man is in). It’s about a doctor that is dying and is trying to cure his rare blood disease… But instead infects himself with vampirism.
In the trailer there are many easter eggs leading back to Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man movies.
Do you see what we see? This puts us post Spider-Man: Far From Home after *SPOILER ALERT* Mysterio tells the world that Peter Parker is Spider-Man and makes him out to be a villain.
Also, like. Vulture is literally in the trailer. That is a direct tie in. So like if Sony could give us Tom Holland, Tom Hardy, and Jared Leto in a movie together? … And then bring them all in a MCU movie together, that’d be great.
As a Marvel stan myself, it’s my theory that Sony/Marvel are creating their rendition on the Sinister Six but only time will tell. Until then you can find us watching this trailer on repeat.

After months of negotiations, Disney and Sony have finally reached a new deal!
We have whiplash from all the back and forth with Spider-Man and his place in the MCU. But you know what, that’s okay. Because in the end… We won, Mr. Stark.
Kevin Feige, President of Marvel, released an official statement stating;
I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.
So basically he’s saying Spidey is back, safe in our arms where he belongs. And that we get to see him with another British Tom H that plays a superhero (Tom Hardy as Venom) and that we may possibly see Venom in the MCU. YES PLEASE!
And of course, as Stan Twitter does best, they supplied us with the best memes and tweets in reaction to this news. And what monsters would we be if we didn’t share some with you?
Then, the web slinger himself took to Instagram to weigh in.
Oh! We forgot to mention the best part… The third Spider-Man movie is slated to be released on July16th 2021.
Phew! That was a close one guys! We almost lost Spidey… again. But this time we weren’t sure that it could be fixed with a snap of the fingers.
It seems as if Disney andSony have come to a custody arrangement and created a new contract for Spidey and Tom Holland. This allegation started when Tom posted a picture of him with Robert Downey, Jr. (all hail) last night and captioned it, “We did it Mr. Stark!”
New Negotiations (Allegedly)
According to Cosmic Book News, Disney now has a 6 picture deal with Tom Holland with an option for a seventh. THANK IRON MAN. It is said that there will be 4 more Spider-Man films, giving Tom two trilogies, the later focusing on Peter with the X-Men. The other two movies are said to be Avengers movies in which he is to have a bigger role. Well… he is Iron Man’s chosen successor.
With this new contract Disney still be co-financing all thingsSpider-Man but will not be acquiring 50% of profit like was stated before. Instead, they will take 30% and gain special digital rights to air Spider-Man on Disney+ and affiliated networks.
It is also said that Disney will help produce … get ready for this one … Live-action spin-offs of Into The Spider-Verse! We don’t know about you, but here at Pop Sundae we think that Into The Spider-Verse is one of the greatest superhero movies of all-time.
For sure, Disney is trying hard to get this new alleged deal done and signed before the D23 expo this upcoming weekend.
Please remember that nothing is completely set in(finity) stone yet. But we should expect some type of news within the next 48 hours!
If Thanos can’t even take Peter away from us, why would we ever think that this could?
Avengers… ASSEMBLE ! It seems we have a new villain in town, and they go by the name of Sony.
Have you ever been stabbed in the back before by someone you thought was your friend?… Someone you even considered family? Because that’s exactly what Sony just did to all of us!
Today it was announced that the Sony/Disney alliance has ended. It’s time for fans to pick sides because we got another Civil Waron our hands.
In case you’re confused here’s a quick recap. Sony owns Spider-Man and all of the associated characters. Disney owns… literally everyone else. So the two came to an agreement to let our man Peter into the MCU. After Spider-Man: Far From Homesurpassed the $1Billion mark (Homecoming grossed $880Million), Sony got cocky.
They didn’t get their way in the new deal, so they are now holding this over Disney’s head (allegedly) thinking that they’re going to comply … Can someone remind them what Disney did to FOX…
Whether this story is true or not … it broke the internet and it more importantly broke our hearts. We trusted Sony with our lives… and they did this to us. The audacity.
In this hard and trying time, some fans took to Twitter to mourn our loss.
Even our dear ol’ fellow AvengerHawkeye has chimed in
Doesn’t Sony know that with great power comes responsibility? They hold a lot of power with Spidey and this whole situation doesn’t seem responsible at all. Uncle Ben would be so disappointed.
Sony, Disney, or Tom Holland himself have yet to speak out on this devastating news but we’re all anxiously waiting. With the upcoming Phase 4 of Marvel movies and Disney+ shows, who knows what’s now going to happen.
Be sure to keep checking in because we’ll be web-slinging the news your way.
