After months of negotiations, Disney and Sony have finally reached a new deal!
We have whiplash from all the back and forth with Spider-Man and his place in the MCU. But you know what, that’s okay. Because in the end… We won, Mr. Stark.
Kevin Feige, President of Marvel, released an official statement stating;
I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.
So basically he’s saying Spidey is back, safe in our arms where he belongs. And that we get to see him with another British Tom H that plays a superhero (Tom Hardy as Venom) and that we may possibly see Venom in the MCU. YES PLEASE!
And of course, as Stan Twitter does best, they supplied us with the best memes and tweets in reaction to this news. And what monsters would we be if we didn’t share some with you?
Then, the web slinger himself took to Instagram to weigh in.
Oh! We forgot to mention the best part… The third Spider-Man movie is slated to be released on July16th 2021.
Remember a few months ago when our hearts were snapped in half? Our beloved Tony Stark made the ultimate sacrifice to save the universe and in return, we lost our billionaire playboy philanthropist. We love you 3000, Iron Man.
Well, it looks like the MCU might mend our broken hearts with one last movie (they’ll still be broken forever).
The Black Widow movie might give us back our two fallen heroes for one more film. The movie is said to take place pre-Infinity War (we’re still mad at Starlord) and post Civil War. So now we have a clear open window for some Iron Man action.
The finale installment of the Marvel big-screen saga was named best comic-to-film release. Robert Downey Jr.’s swan song performance as Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, in Endgame earned him the best actor in a film award. (Downey will be seen in the role of Stark one more time, however, in the Marvel prequel Black Widow in May 2020.) Josh Brolin, who portrayed the calculating, grape-colored alien despot called Thanos, won as the best supporting actor in a film for Avengers: Endgame as well.
Actors already confirmed for the Black Widow movie are David Harbour, Ray Winstone, Rachel Weisz, and Florence Pugh.
We don’t know if this rumor is true but we are praying to every Norse God that Thor knows. We also really hope that there’s a special Hawkeye appearance and we get to find out what really happened in Budapest.
What do you think? Will we get Tony back for one last ride? Tell us your thoughts and theories on Twitter!
Phew! That was a close one guys! We almost lost Spidey… again. But this time we weren’t sure that it could be fixed with a snap of the fingers.
It seems as if Disney andSony have come to a custody arrangement and created a new contract for Spidey and Tom Holland. This allegation started when Tom posted a picture of him with Robert Downey, Jr. (all hail) last night and captioned it, “We did it Mr. Stark!”
New Negotiations (Allegedly)
According to Cosmic Book News, Disney now has a 6 picture deal with Tom Holland with an option for a seventh. THANK IRON MAN. It is said that there will be 4 more Spider-Man films, giving Tom two trilogies, the later focusing on Peter with the X-Men. The other two movies are said to be Avengers movies in which he is to have a bigger role. Well… he is Iron Man’s chosen successor.
With this new contract Disney still be co-financing all thingsSpider-Man but will not be acquiring 50% of profit like was stated before. Instead, they will take 30% and gain special digital rights to air Spider-Man on Disney+ and affiliated networks.
It is also said that Disney will help produce … get ready for this one … Live-action spin-offs of Into The Spider-Verse! We don’t know about you, but here at Pop Sundae we think that Into The Spider-Verse is one of the greatest superhero movies of all-time.
For sure, Disney is trying hard to get this new alleged deal done and signed before the D23 expo this upcoming weekend.
Please remember that nothing is completely set in(finity) stone yet. But we should expect some type of news within the next 48 hours!
If Thanos can’t even take Peter away from us, why would we ever think that this could?
April 26th, 2019 the world experienced something never before seen in Cinematic history. In one night, records were broken and made, lives were changed forever, and a 10-year story concluded. Avengers: Endgame.
Throughout its running time, Endgame has managed to achieve the record for the highest grossing opening weekend, coming in at $1.223 billion dollars. Followed by the shattering record of fastest movie to reach $2 billion in just 11 days!
Originally, it was thought that Endgame would easily surpass Avatar for the highest grossing film of all time. However, it seems that is not the case as the Endgame theatrical run comes to an end. As of right now, Endgame has a total grossing of $2.742 billion, sitting just under Avatar whose grossing is at $2.788 billion. With multiple shocking plot deaths (and revivals) it is unclear exactly what is to come next in the MCU.
Here’s what we do know.
July 2nd, 2019 will be the official end of Phase 3 for the MCU, with Spider-Man: Far From Home. While we say goodbye to the Avengers we know, we get to experience a whole new band of heroes trying to save the world. With Disney’s new acquisition of 20th Century Fox, they now have X-Men and the Fantastic Four to play with.
Recently, Disney released their greatly anticipated film schedule for the next 4 years. On it you can see that there are 8 untitled Marvel films set to come out, giving us at least 2 Marvel films a year! We can expect to see sequels, breakout movies, and possibly an Avengers 5.
On top of this, Disney’s streaming service Disney+is set to release in November of this year. Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, has already announced that this service will be the home to multiple original Marvel Shows. These shows will feature the original actors from the MCU making fans even more excited to see this continuation of Marvel. Some already announced shows are the LokiSeries, The Falcon & Winter Soldier, Wanda/Vision and Hawkeye.
Information about the future of Marvel is under lock and key, but as they slowly get released we will be sure to keep a hawk’s eye on spoilers and updates!
