Founded in 2016 out of Nashville Tennesee, the post-hardcore group is reminiscent of bands like My Chemical Romance and 30 Seconds to Mars. Us In Motion consists of Grant Bastin (vocals/guitar), Britt Watkins (drums), and Tatie McKinney (bass), and are getting ready to debut their first EP, Nothing Above. After their previous two singles, “The Witch” and “In The Morning”, they are here to drop “Romantics” as their third single. And while this track is stunning, the lyrics and video are not necessarily for the sensitive viewer/listener.
In true Memento fashion, the “Romantics” video, directed by Kenton Scott, is a stunning visual representation for the already fascinating song. Get ready to queue the famous flashback scenes and polaroid pictures.
Just like Memento, the video takes snippets of a moment: a beautiful house, a woman on the floor with a forgotten chalice by her side, and frantic scenes of desperation by the lead singer. Its visuals do a wonderful job of conveying the dark lyrics and adding to the theatrics that encompasses the rock and emo genres.
The song itself is very reminiscent of songs like Bring Me The Horizon‘s “Drown,” while still retaining its unique qualities. If you’ve felt at home singing along to MCR or BMTH in your bedroom, then “Romantics” is the perfect addition to your playlists.
It doesn’t have many lyrics, just two verses, and a chorus, but what little lyrics it does have, tell a complex story.
“The pictures are worth a thousand words, But your touch is worth a million more”
The first verse describes a suicide to meet his (assumed dead) lover: “If the fall won’t let me See you again then maybe The gun will.” It’s all very Romeo and Juliet. Especially when there is a literal dead woman’s body holding a chalice in the video. Nothing is more romantic than R&J, they’re the epitome of romance.
While the first verse deals heavily with suicide and depression, the second verse plays even further into the depression after a loved one dies: “Every day you’d see them Even when you’d close your eyes…” and probably one of the saddest lyrics in the song: “The pictures are worth a thousand words But your touch is worth a million more.”
It’s the chorus where the music really starts to feel like Memento. With the same visuals flashing throughout now rewinding. Letting the viewer re-watch everything until the lovers reunite. And then move to the present day emotional aftermath.
And the chorus repeats. Once the final phrase is sung, the video rewinds until you’re left seeing the two lovers part, for, what is most likely, the last time.
Make sure to keep an eye out for our exclusive interview where we sat down the the band to discuss everything that’s up-and-coming, including their EP which drops August 16th.
Following the awful launch of Jaclyn Cosmetics lipstick line, Jaclyn Hill had deleted all of her social-media accounts. Which can only leave us to wonder where she’d run off to. After all, Jaclyn Hill lipsticks have been the talk of the town for quite some time now.
**As of July 23, Hill is officially posting on her YouTube channel.
YouTuber turned CEO of her own company ran into some issues with the launch of her first batch of lipsticks. When her long-awaited cosmetics brand had debuted, fans were excited to see what the influencer had up her sleeve.
However, many were saddened with her launch of 20 nude lipsticks, which were meant to flatter all skin tones. After all, Jaclyn had been building the hype up behind her company for years – even dating back to 2015/2016. Though, the lackluster launch has heads turning for more concerning reasons. The lipsticks have sparked a debate all across social media; broken and melted lipsticks, hair within the product, and bumps as well as scratches all over the bullet.
Complaints & Concerns
To start, fans were upset with how quick the website was to crash when they were ready to purchase. There were many complaints on launch day that consumers had to purchase the whole set in order to get one of the lipsticks, even if they didn’t want it. Not to mention the price – $300. Others had similar issues with waiting in the never ending checkout line only to get booted back to the homepage, losing their place in line and the items in their cart.
Not to mention fans paid for express shipping and they were receiving their items after people who didn’t pay extra for shipping. On top of that, Jaclyn‘s team sent out PR way too late in the game and certain influencers had already spent money on lipsticks from her site. (And there were some inconsistencies between the lipsticks sent from the warehouse and lipsticks received in PR.)
When all was said and done and lipsticks were set out to be delivered, fans had multiple complaints about their lipsticks. Ranging from hairs, spots, lumps, as well as broken bullets and packaging. Hill claims that the thought to be hair is due to the texture of the gloves that had been used during quality control of her products.
She tweeted, “If any of you are receiving lipsticks like this… please know that this is NOT hair! My factory used brand new white gloves to do quality control & they shed all over my product! We switched to rubber gloves 2 days ago & will make sure this never happens again.”
Jaclyn Cosmetics took to Twitter to address any concerns from people inquiring about refunds. “The team is working to resolve the following outstanding payments: PayPal refunds, chargebacks, partial refunds, customers who purchased with Visa gift cards or similar. Contact us with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org,” the tweet read. The brand’s website asks for customers to allow at least a week for refunds to get added back to their accounts.
Hill decided to speak out publicly on the backlash her brand was getting, making a video for YouTube. She speaks on issues such as the melting issue, white fuzzies, black holes, grittiness and texture, and says that she’s working on fixing each of these. The video runs 14 minutes in total, currently being ratioed by the 152,000 dislikes. Hill says that her lipsticks are in no way expired, and the “lipsticks did not go into mass production until the same month that [Hill] launched [her] brand.” She denies that her lipsticks are moldy, hazardous, or unsafe for users.
Addressing the Concerns
In June, Hill addressed the concerns with her lipsticks, which some have gone as far as to say have caused them to have lip infections. Some people say their lips have become swollen and bumpy after using the line launched by Hill. Many people on Twitter have said that they’re experiencing severe irritation on their lips — including cold sores — due to Jaclyn Cosmetics’ lipsticks. Users have gone as far as to say that they’d been prescribed medication to stop their symptoms. If these allegations are true, Jaclyn has a lot of explaining to do.
In a now deleted Instagram story, Hill said that she “planned to push back several launches” and would work on refunding every customer of the brand. “I have decided and made the decision to give every single person who purchased one of my lipsticks a full refund,” Hill continued to say, “I know that there are a lot of people out there — it doesn’t look like it on social media — but with all the emails in the back end, there’s a lot of people who love their lipsticks. But I don’t care if 195,000 people loved a lipstick. If three people are having an issue, that’s what’s going to keep me awake at night.”
She mentioned that all customers who purchased from her website would receive an email with their refund in the next twenty four hours. Jaclyn Cosmetics reached out to customers with a similar message that reads, “We are reaching out to let you know that you will be receiving a full refund for your Jaclyn Cosmetics purchase, including shipping charges.” Many applauded her for her decision to refund consumers. But, some were less than impressed, saying “she wants trust but won’t own up to obvious lies.”
Hill went on to say in the deleted Instagram story that it was important to her that she makes things right. Though she’s completely disappeared from all socials as of right now.
In Hill’s video uploaded to YouTube, she goes on to say that there was a low percentage of people that were reaching out via customer service email. Fans had a moment of “where have we heard this before?” Well, turns out that this wasn’t the first time Hill had tried to use that to make herself look good. When she launched her collaboration with Morphe – The Vault – she was met with backlash.
Hill said that a low percentage of the palettes had been returned and begged people who bought them and were unhappy to reach out to her. She used the same gimmicks in her lipstick video, saying that “less than 1% of customers” have had bad experiences.
Kevin James Bennett (@KJBennettBeauty) commented on Hill’s video. “Thoughts on the @JaclynHill video: Full makeup, filters, and an ‘Empowered Women’ t-shirt? Subliminal messaging (for the stans). Gotta give her props, she’s an elite-level con artist. It’s a masterclass in deception – mesmerizing and terrifying all at the same time. #StillLying”
Testing the Theories
There’s also been conspiracies that Jeffree Star had Skin Frosts that were being delivered with long black hairs/wires embedded in the product. From the looks of it, fans thoughts that it could be the same lab that Jaclyn Cosmetics had been using.
After too many people started noticing the same problems with their Jaclyn Cosmetics lipsticks, some decided to take action. They sent their lipsticks in for testing, and others with scientific backgrounds decided to test them themselves. Betty Wilder, who has a background in science, posted her results. “Approx 120 hour microbial check. Confirmed positive yeast/mold results on lid sample,” she wrote to Twitter.
Keep it Boujee
Some fans had theories that they thought too good not to share. They wondered if the component was old and that was what infected the actual lipstick product. This was a good theory, but wouldn’t account for the shards of metal found in some of the lipsticks.
Though Jaclyn Cosmetics claimed to have put $100k worth of testing into their products, they were intrigued by Betty’s results. They reached out to her via email asking for the full report of testing to conduct a full investigation.
To which Betty replied, “I heard Ms. Hill is paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to conduct her own testing. Certainly that will suffice to provide you with answers to any questions you may have. If you have any further questions about sufficient quality control measures for future launches, you may inquire about my consulting fees. Keep it boujee.”
Hill Goes M.I.A.
Following Marlena Stell’s video, “Dear Influencers,” where she speaks out about her thoughts on the beauty community, as well as Jaclyn Cosmetics‘ lipsticks; Hill started posting childhood photos on Twitter. She also allegedly began to like fans’ tweets about/to her. Jaclyn confronted fans online that had negative things to say, but ultimately deleted the tweets. Only to get called out once again.
Jaclyn said on Twitter, “I deleted it because I immediately got hateful comments & although everything I stated is 1,000% true, I need to protect my mental state first and foremost. And I know people think that makes me a ‘victim’ but honestly, my sanity needs to come first.” Soon after she published the tweet, she deactivated her social media accounts.
She made statements through those closest to her, like her ex husband, her mother, and a fan page for her. This didn’t sit well with fans, who were shocked and upset that she would rather hide away than face the heat.
Jaclyn Cosmetics Will Be Back
Shortly after Hill deactivated her socials, her website was no longer offering the lipsticks to be sold. Though, it’s hard to tell at this point if that’s certain. Betty Wilder took to Twitter once more when she received updated lab results. Wilder wrote, “[Jaclyn Cosmetics] are in violation of the FD&C Act prohibiting the marketing of adulterated or misbranded cosmetics in interstate commerce. This product must be recalled.”
“Poor mixing as admitted to […] results in silica, clay, and pigment ingredient settling to the tip of the lipstick. These ingredients may cause scratches and injury to the lips which may be further inflamed by secondary infections,” Wilder continued.Jaclyn Cosmetics had no comment on the allegations, though they explained why they haven’t set a recall.
On their website, they answered “Why are you not recalling the lipsticks?” The message reads, “After a thorough investigation and extensive third-party testing, several labs and safety assessors have confirmed that while a fraction of our lipsticks did not meet our brand standards of quality, they are in full compliance with FDA regulation and safe to use.”
FDA & It’s Role Within Cosmetics
Many wondered why the FDA remained silent when all of these problems with Jaclyn’s lipsticks were coming to light. In a video by Spill, a commentary YouTube channel, she explains that this isn’t the FDA‘s role. According to the FDA, “the law does not require cosmetic products and ingredients, other than color additives, to have FDA approval before they go on the market.”
However, there are laws that must be followed that do apply to certain cosmetics on the market. In Jaclyn’s “My Lipsticks” video, she claims that all ingredients are FDA approved. The FDA doesn’t approve cosmetic ingredients or products — only color additives. Under the law, cosmetic products do not require FDA premarket approval.
FDA.gov offers some insight on recalls and how to take action. Recalls of cosmetics are considered a voluntary action that must be taken by manufacturers or distributors. The FDA is not authorized to order recalls of any cosmetics, though they do monitor companies that conduct recalls.
Despite her accounts being deleted, fans are still sending complaints to whoever they can get in contact with. There are plenty of fans that took to Twitter to complain that they hadn’t gotten their refunds, and frankly are tired of waiting. Considering that some have waited as long as three weeks to get their money back for contaminated product, it’s safe to say Hill may never live this one down. Not to mention, there’s about 29,000 angry consumers that signed a petition on Change.org that calls for the lipsticks to be recalled.
The numbers are rising every second and the petition has been active for a month. In the “Reasons for Signing” section, users are sharing their horror stories. Caren Collins writes, “I’m signing because I’m currently sick from using her lipstick. She needs to take responsibility and remove these.” Another user writes, “I am on antibiotics because I’m on chemo and I have a fever of 102 since using her lipsticks.”
While there’s a lot going on, it’s obvious these lipsticks are contaminated. Health and safety are at stake, and she needs to take action. These lipsticks need to be recalled and the formula worked on. Maybe then Jaclyn Cosmetics can make a comeback.
EXTRA, EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT
Jaclyn Hill has officially updated viewers on where she’s been as of July 23, 2019. She posted a nineteen minute long video to her YouTube channel where she appears shaky, uneasy, and jittery. She speaks about deleting her social media accounts, quotes Kurt Cobain, and mentions that this video may be the biggest mistake of her career. Hill touches on her mental health in the video; pointing out that her viewers have been there through her anxiety, depression, and even her divorce.
The CEO cracks jokes as she goes throughout the video, mentioning that she tried to keep this video from appearing like any other YouTube apology video. She mentions that she made sure to do her hair and makeup, that she wasn’t wearing a hoodie and crying on the floor, her backdrop set up perfectly behind her. Hill gets teary-eyed as she admits she’s scared of people seeing her as a victim, and she’s “terrified of saying the wrong things.” After, she makes note that she wants to get back to doing makeup tutorials, which are her real passion.
Jaclyn Hillfinally admits that her launch was a failure. Admitting that because she was overly confident, she ended up appearing cocky. She does not address any rumors about her brand, the launch, or the lipsticks themselves. Though, says that her quality control team was not big enough for her launch. Hill shifts the blame to a multitude of things throughout the video, never fully putting it on herself.
Hill explains that while she has taken action to right her wrongs, she doesn’t feel the need to express what she’s done. She says everything she does within her brand is “confidential” and she doesn’t need to share it with the whole world. Offering some insight, she does mention that she’s fired “so many people.” Not to mention, built a new quality control team. After she deactivated her social media accounts, she spent time rebuilding her team and reflecting on the situation.
After several meetings, Hill found another lab to create future launches with. She explains that she’s bummed out by the failure, and shares upsetting news. For the rest of the year, every 6-8 weeks Hill had a new launch scheduled for fans that had been anticipating Jaclyn Cosmetics for years. She’s pulled every project from that lab that had been in the works. The brand will be relocating to a different lab, with production starting relatively soon.
The Big Picture
You probably shouldn’t be using expired makeup, but, let’s be real — we all do. Whether it’s that lipstick you have from MAC just taking up space, or an old eyeshadow palette you’ve never hit pan on. We all do it, but what are the real dangers?
Most people don’t stay on top of expiration dates, especially since the product doesn’t “go bad.” Experts say you don’t have to worry too much! There aren’t very many issues that using expired makeup will cause, except the product not being fresh or the color payoff being vibrant. But don’t get too excited. There still are some issues with using expired makeup.
While your makeup is aging, the ingredients inside of that product will oxidize and change how the product performs. Preservatives can also start to break down in certain circumstances. It’s warned that even if the cosmetic hasn’t been open, it may not be safe to use when exposed to air. If you continually use expired makeup, you may be at risk for infections and breakouts.
There are no U.S. laws that require cosmetics to have specific shelf lives or expiration dates on their labels.
There’s a guideline for how long you’ll be with your favorite makeup products. The product’s packaging will most likely have a symbol called the Period After Opening symbol. It’s shaped like a container and will have “#_M” written on it. This will tell you how many months you have to use the product after opening.
But here’s an idea of how to regulate some of your favorite makeup items. Joshua Zeicher, MD, Director of Cosmetic and Clinical Research Department of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital, says to Hope Daniels for Reader’s Digest, “anything moist that’s touching wet parts of the body–eyes, lips, open skin–lasts a shorter period of time.” If the product can’t be sterilized, you’re better off getting rid of it.
Mascara should generally be tossed every three months, concealers/foundations/liquid and cream products mainly have a life expectancy of one year. Powder products last longer, up to user. Lip products are good for around one year.
As always, Jace is on the case, this time to try and decipher what is about to go down in the AHS world.
Throughout the past few weeks information has slowly been released about the upcoming season. You can see what we already know here. Remember this article is STRICTLY THEORIES. I have no idea if any of this will end up happening in AHS. But read along, let us know if you agree!
So, I’m about to really get really into American Horror Story and theories surrounding it. There are always multiple possibilities for the AHS world and it’s always hard to stick to just one theory, so let me break down a few for you.
It’s actually the set of a movie
When show creator, Ryan Murphy, dropped the cast announcement video is when this speculation started. Quite literally opening with a countdown and an off-screen crew member saying “screen test, rolling.” In this video, the characters in multiple different outfits which clearly are from the 80’s and walking around an empty cabin .
Throughout this video we can see red tape that forms the shape of a “T” on the floor. When on set for any kind of filming, these are on the floor to tell the actor where to stand. These are called “marks.” AHS has one of the best editing teams and would not let a mistake like this slip by (*cough, Game of Thrones, cough*). Especially because in some shots it is there and in others it is not. Clearly this mark is meant to be seen, further making us believe that it is in fact a set of some sort. Now, if this theory is true, this season could either be really good or really bad.
How this could be bad…
Murphy had already played around with the idea of having the season take place on a set in AHS: Roanoke. Roanoke started off as a cheesy rip-off version of A Haunting, and then turned into a reality TV-Show putting the real people and actors who played them back into the haunted house. Yeah… We’re still confused too. Long story short, it dragged. While it was probably the season with the most jump scares, the content just wasn’t there.
How this could be good…
If Murphy learned from his mistakes in Roanoke, then this could be amazing. If we’re on a set we can go horror movie gone real. People swapping out prop weapons for real ones, fake blood is actually real blood, and no one is acting when they’re screaming for their life.
From the trailer and cast announcement video we see a man in a dark trench coat who is dripping wet kind of fisherman-y. This definitely gives us I Know What You Did Last Summer vibes – but I think that’s the point.
However, we can’t jump to the conclusion that he’s automatically the killer of the season. Throughout the video we see a boy who is the ‘edgy’ kid of the bunch. Complete with luscious hair, a leather jacket, and a switch blade, this boy definitely raises a red flag.
It actually takes place in 1984
There could also be a chance that this does actually take place in 1984 and this could be a real camp. To start this theory, AHS seems to have a pattern to the seasons. A present day season followed by a season that takes place in the past. Think about it. Murder House 2011, Asylum1960’s, Coven 2013, FreakShow 1950’s, Hotel 2016.
This is where the pattern ultimately ends because Roanoke, Cult, and Apocalypse all take place in present day. This blast to the past season is kind of over due. But back to the hard evidence.
In the video, Leslie Grossman and Matthew Morrison are definitely the oldest of the characters we’ve seen. The two are definitely superior in some sort of way.
In the video we also see the same characters walking into the cabin over and over. I can’t quite tell what their ages they are supposed to be; they could either be teenagers at some kind of art camp, or camp counselors in training. We see them in multiple different outfits, and each time they walk in, it seems as if they’re looking for something. But what?
This is the million dollar question. Are they being drawn by some kind of force? Are they ghost hunting? Did they hear cries for help?
The killer is not going to be that obvious
Each season there’s the big killer, the one with the revenge plot. However due to the fact that they’re doing a retro slasher season… I don’t think it’s going to be that obvious.
Remember in the first Friday the 13th, when we were all telling the group of kids from Camp Crystal Lake to run from Jason. JUST TO FIND OUT that it wasn’t even Jason doing the killing. It was his mother the whole time.
How about in Scream (anyone of them really), when we just think that it was a single serial killer out for revenge. When in fact, it’s usually more that two people orchestrating the whole thing looking for attention.
Heck, even thought it’s not a slasher flick, think of Gone Girl. We thought that she was kidnapped and killed for some reason when in actuality… she staged her own death to get revenge on her cheating husband (who she get’s back with in the end… but live your life, boo).
Bsically, I think that no matter the time or actual place of the season… The killer will be right under our nose the whole time. I have a feeling that it will be a team of people trying to throw the scent off of each other.
Probably some “you stole the person I love even though they don’t love me back so now I’m going to kill you” type thing… Cause y’know…. That always works out.
The Inferno Theory
Some may have already heard of this theory, but for those who haven’t… Sit tight, because your mind is about to be blown.
This theory was just a small coincidence that a reddit user pointed out. At this point there were only 5 seasons… Upon hearing this, I’ve decided to dive deeper to further prove this theory that has peaked my interest.
We have always been told that all the seasons are connected in some way. We’ve had reoccurring characters and small little easter eggs placed throughout the seasons. But how are they overall connected? Are they just all in the same universe? Or is it bigger than that?
In Inferno, the first part of Dante Alighieri‘s three-part epic poem The Divine Comedy, the narrator descends through nine levels of hell: Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Wrath/Anger, Heresy, Violence, Fraud, and Treachery. Here is where we start making the AHS connections. Each circle of hell is a different season.
Murder House (Limbo)
The first stop in Dante‘s journey is Limbo, here he comes across people who are trapped in an in-between afterlife. Not deserving of damnation but not yet able to enter heaven.
In Murder House, the ghosts of the house are trapped. If they die on property, their souls can never leave (except on Halloween), making them trapped between the living people of earth and the afterlife.
In the poem, the next circle after Limbo is Lust but it seems as if Ryan Murphy, the shows creator, skipped around with placement. Because next circle we see is Fraud. In the poerm, Dante saves this circle from false prophets and health professionals that actually exploit patients instead of curing them. Sound familiar?
In Asylum, Braircliff is basically a cover up for Dr. Arden to experiment on patients. There is also Dr. Oliver Threadson using and abusing his power to try and frame someone as the killer Bloodyface, when it is in-fact Threadson himself.
Treachery, which is the technically last and worst circle in hell is said to be reserved for those who betray their friends and loved ones… Let’s take a trip down memory lane.
In Coven, remember that scene where Fiona betrays Maddison by killing her? Or when Cordelia‘s husband not only betrays their marriage by having an affair, but by being a witch hunter and planning to kill her this whole time? How about that part when that crazy mom killed her son in the hospital because he realized how much she has lied to him. Yeah, I think it’s safe to say there’s some treachery going down in season 3.
Freak Show (Greed)
The fourth circle, greed, was divided into two groups. Those who hoarded possessions and those who lavishly spent.
Freak Showis all about greed. Elsa is quite literally making a profit of people with deformities that had no where to go. They were her family-her possessions that she hoarded and could never let go of. As for the lavishly spent portion… two words… Dandy Mott.
The circle of Gluttony is for those who are well… gluttonous… who have habitual needs. Like addiction, maybe?
Drugs, alcohol, and sex are all things that represent modern-day gluttony. And represents AHS: Hotel. Sally has an on-going heroin addiction, Detective Lowe suffers from alcoholism, The Countess lures men and women to feed off of through sex, and there is literally an AddictionDemon.
In the poem, the 5th circle is where you find wrathful and angry people. When venturing through this level Dante said that these people could be seen fighting and drowning each other.
In Roanoke, The Butcher has quite the anger problems against the colonists that rebelled against her. Above that, she tortures everyone that dares to live on her property. In this season we also see the angry cannibalistic Polk clan. Not to mention that one scene where Shelby finds Matt cheating on her with Scáthach (All hail supreme Gaga) and bashes his head in… Yeah I think that everyone in that season is a little angry.
The Heresy circle is reserved for those who have beliefs or ideas that contradict the christian beliefs. These are the people that started… well… cults…
Cult. Well the connection is literally in the name. That and the fact that Kai tries to create a Messiah baby andhas an obsession with playing “god“; idolizing cults like the Manson Family, Jonestown, and Heavens Gate.
The seventh level is Violence, this circle is divided into three sub-circles. Outer being the murderers, middle being profligates (extravagant and wasteful people), and the inner being blasphemous people (acting out against god).
While the whole season of Apocalypse is violent in the sense of the apocalypse happened and wiped out almost all of humanity… There are some harder facts.
Below you can see a picture of Outpost 3. Its shape is three circles much like the Violence circle.
The outer circle is the outside… If you were to go outside you would be murdered by these infected zombie people.
The middle circle would be the actual inside of the outpost, where they dressed as extravagantly as it was decorated. Not to mention they worried about wasting food because of rations (but they did anyway).
The inner circle are those who are blasphemous and speak out against god, this is more of Michael entering the outpost and trying to take over because he’s…. the literal anti-christ.
This brings us our final circle. As you just read, there’s some pretty solid evidence for this theory. You may ask, “Jace, how do you know this season will be Lust if it hasn’t even aired?” Well my friend. I don’t. But the facts show that it’s possible.
Seasons 1-8 have each shown that they could very possibly represent a different circle in hell. Leaving only Lust left. Now, after analyzing the teaser and cast video over and over, I couldn’t find anything even remotely close to lust. Nothing showed it… But that was the problem…. Nothing SHOWED it. I ended up curious about the song that was playing over the cast video. It was Dan Hartman “I Can Dream About You”.
When I listened, it seemed like your everyday cheesy 80’s pop love song. It wasn’t until I read the lyrics that it clicked. The lyrics are saying that because he cannot be with her, he can dream about her. He keeps going on like this almost like he’s obsessed with her… like he’s in LUST with her.
I think this gif describes how we all feel right now.
What do you think?
Is this wishful thinking? Maybe? But it sure makes sense, doesn’t it. We won’t know if this season is Lust until it actually airs… And we won’t really know if this Inferno theory is true until next season… American Horror Story: 1984airs September 18th at 10pm on FX and FX Streaming.
What do you think? Do you think there is enough evidence proving it true? Do you have another theory? Let us know in the comments below!
Don’t worry! As always, Jace is on the case, and I’ve put together a list of Netflix’s best kept secrets.
Beyond Stranger Things
I’m starting off easy for you. I don’t even have to ask if you likeStranger Things because I already know the answer. You do. And if you’re like me, you want more. I introduce to you, Beyond Stranger Things. This is a 7 episode BTS look of the making of season 2 featuring interviews, never before seen footage, and a look into how things were created.
Frankenstein’s Monster’s Monster, Frankenstein
So we’re still riding the Stranger Things train with this one because this small 30 minute beauty is staring no other than David Harbour. Or you may know him as Hawkins finest Chief of Police, Hopper. This small gem is meant to be as bad as it is. In this short, David finds old footage of his ‘Dad’ acting in television plays and shares it with us. Basically if you love David Harbour, you should watch this.
The Toys That Made Us
Want a take a nostalgia filled trip down memory lane, this show is for you. This show tells you the history and production of all the toys you forgot you had sitting in your toy chest. From Barbie to LEGO’s…They cover it all.
Holy Schitt’s Creek! This is a show that needs to be talked about more because it is that amazing. Schitt’s Creek is actually aired on television (Pop TV) but is always available to binge watch on Netflix. Here you will see a disgustingly rich family lose everything they have and have to figure out small-town life. If that’s not enough to convince you maybe then maybe their 4 Emmy nominations will.
Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond
Anybody that knows Jim Carrey, knows that he will forever go down as one of the greats. In this film we see a different side to our favorite comedian. This is a documentary that lets us see the transition from Jim Carrey to Andy Kauffman that was done for Man on the Moon. When filming Jim stayed in character the whole time on and off set. Due to the intensity of Andy, Jim had the tapes hidden in order to protect his image. Until now.
Are you like me when watching baking shows and tell anyone who will listen “I could totally do that.” Then when you attempt (attempt being the key word) it kind of comes out slightly right. Only to the point where you can say you tried. Well that’s what this show is. Hosted by Girl Code’s, Nicole Byer, this will make you laugh, hungry and want to bake all at the same time.
This movie is such a feel-good empowerment movie. The film follows Jenny Young after her break-up with a long term boyfriend. We see her struggling with the idea of moving on physically and emotionally without him. We expect her to get back with him in the end, like all romantic movies, but instead she chooses herself and her career. The way it should be.
Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back
Who doesn’t love a good best friend stoner comedy movie? I know I do. Jay & Silent Bob are probably one of the best duos there are. With lots of cameos in Kevin Smith’s older movies like Clerks andChasing Amy, Mall Rats this is the duo’s first stand alone movie. It doesn’t disappoint. The long awaited sequel is set to come out this fall. You can watch the trailer for it here.
Remember your early pre-teen phase when Amanda Bynes movies just kind of showed up out of nowhere. This is one of them. One of the lesser known ones. Much like her other movies, Amanda Bynes plays the female outcast who is quirky beyond belief, falls in love with the cute guy, and lives happily ever after. Yeah it’s been done. But…think of it as a guilty pleasure.
Do I need to say anything other than young Ryan Reynolds? I rest my case.
What do you think of our list? Are there hidden gems we missed? Let us know in the comments below!
Tom Holland,Sebastian Stan,Bill Skarsgård, and Robert Pattison are officially announced to star in the heavily anticipated 2020 release of The Devil All the Time. Fans are dying to know what director Antônio Campos has up his sleeve! The cast is pretty impressive, with stars like the above alongside Haley Bennett, Jason Clarke, Mia Wasakowska, and Riley Keough.
The made for Netflix movie will be an adaptation of the novel, written by Donald Ray Pollock. With cinematography by Lol Crawley, we can only be certain that this film will be a masterpiece. Crawley has worked within television and film for years – his earliest project dating back to 2008. Several awards have been won for his work, including an award at the Sundance Film Festival for Excellence in Cinematography. His notable work references Black Mirror’s episode, “Crocodile” (2017), and Coldplay’s 2011 music video, “Charlie Brown.”
The movie, much like the book, will follow a cast of bizarre characters nearing the end of the Second World War, up to the 1960s, throughout southern Ohio and West Virginia. The characters include a disturbed war veteran, a husband and wife pair who turn out to be serial killers, and a false preacher. Tom Holland, who graces us with his adaptation of Marvel’sSpider-Man, takes on the role of Arvin Russell. As the central protagonist; he faces multiple collisions with corruption and destructive impulses – it’s likely Holland will have the most screen time.
Holland plays possibly the most complex character in the film; a good guy at heart, but also not afraid to use physical violence to take revenge on those who wronged him, or someone he cares about. Carrying a lot of emotional trauma and baggage, he will prove himself to be good willed, but a violent man.
In early September 2018 when the film was announced, Tom Holland, Robert Pattison, Chris Evans, Mia Wasikowskam, and Tracy Letts were all in talks to star. Unfortunately for die hard Chris Evans fans, the star dropped out of the film after scheduling conflicts. But, don’t worry, Marvel fans, Evans recommended that Stan take his place in the film. Stan will take on Evans’s role as Lee Bodecker, a corrupt lawman and Sandy Henderson’s (Mia Wasikowska) brother.
The Devil All the Time is due to release via Netflix’s streaming services, while filming began in Birmingham, Alabama. Filming officially started on February 19, 2019 and later concluded on April 15. Randall Poster, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker will produce the film. There is currently no official release date for the film.

After a 615 day wait… or 87 weeks & 6 days… or 1 year, 8 months & 7 days… (yes we counted), Stranger Things fans were finally blessed with season 3 of the cult classic on July 4th.
We have some feelings. Mainly with Hopper for thinking strawberry and cherry Slurpees are the same. But that’s neither here nor there (RIP Alexei).
Need we say more than this…
Our Top 5 Favourite Things.
Dustin’s Farrah Fawcett Hairspray Weapon
Seeing Dustin grab his Farrah Fawcett Hairspray as a weapon when his various toys came alive, is hands down the best weapon ever used in Stranger Things ever. Period. (Sorry Steve – we still love your bat). All praise hair model Steve Harrington for introducing him to this magical, magical tool in the first place.
Alexei and Slurpees
RIP Alexei. Gone but never forgotten. And yes, we agree. There IS a difference between cherry and strawberry.
Alexei quickly became one of two favourite characters this season. He saved Hawkins. Without him, Joyce and Hopper would never have known how to stop the Russians from opening the gate to The Upside Down.
You’re a hero Alexei. You even convinced conspiracy theorist Murray who hates Russians. 7-11 (July 11th) will forever be known as Cherry Slurpee day in your honour. RIP our cherry Slurpee, looney tunes loving Russian friend.
Steve and Robin in the Bathroom
EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS. Robin‘s entire story arc was iconic. You almost never see LGBTQ+ characters on TV, without just fact part being their main story or a gimmick of some sort. Robin‘s story was different. She was a strong, intelligent female lead who just happened to also be gay. It didn’t define her. And we didn’t even find out until the almost end.
The way she confesses to Steve in the movie theatre bathroom after he admits he’s starting to grow feelings for her is EVERYTHING. We’re led to believe after their adventures together that they’re destined to come together by the end of the season, because Steve also had no other love interest. The platonic friendship they build this season is incredible. Not every attractive female has to end up with the guy. Sometimes it’s more complex. Netflix killed it here.
Operation Child Endangerment... “You can’t spell America without Erica”.
Erica really is the sassy, hilarious, intelligent female we never knew we needed. Not only was she essential to the ‘Scoops Troops’ plan, but she’s secretly a nerd too! She drives a hard bargain – all the USS Butterscotches she can eat to crawl through a vent for ‘Operation Child Endangerment’.
Her intelligence and bravery helped save the group more than once – without her cheeky attitude, everyone in Hawkins would have gotten flayed.
The Easter Eggs – Hair Tie
Jim Hopper‘s daughter Sara‘s hair tie is our first favourite easter egg. In a season one flashback, we learn Sara fell suddenly ill whilst playing in the park – later leading to the loss of her hair through chemotherapy, before she sadly passed away. Hopper can later be seen wearing the hair tie on his wrist, that Sara previously wore in her hair.
Throughout seasons 2 and 3 we see El wearing the same tie around her wrist, after Hopper adopts her as his own daughter. During one moment before the “Battle Of Starcourt”, we see Hopper tugging on the small memento. David Habour, the actor who portrays Hopper on the show, has previously stated the bracelet represents his connection with Eleven.
“It’s something subtle we do, and in fact if you watch the first [scene] of Jim Hopper in season one, he wakes up in the morning and before he even checks his watch he touches that bracelet on his arm. You’ll see in the first flashback with Sara that she has her hair up in these little pigtails and she’s wearing these blue hair ties. You’ll notice throughout the series I will occasionally play with it like when I’m talking to Eleven or going through a difficult time”
You can even see Eleven wearing it again, whilst she reads Hopper’s final letter. Someone pass us a tissue. We are not ok.
The Easter Eggs – Bob Newby
Unlike Barb, a fallen hero finally got the justice they deserved this season. Bob Newby – we love you. You guided our troops to safety in season 2, but when it was your turn, The Duffer Brothers struck again, and the Demodogs caught up to you in true horror flick fashion.
In episode one this season, we see Joyce reminisce about her time with Bob during a flashback. And although we’re all for a Joyce / Hopper union (Jopper?), we appreciate homage being played to superhero Bob, as shown in a drawing by Will. Joyce feels Bob‘s absence after being asked out by Hopper, later thinking back to fond memories whilst sitting alone on her couch. RIP Bob Newby. It’s been 615 days. We’re still not over it.
Heather was The Mind Flayer‘s second victim, kidnapped by Billy – the Mind Flayer’s first and main host. Janet (with her husband Tom) was knocked unconscious by Heather and Billy, later taken to The Mind Flayer. Heather and Janet sacrificed themselves under The Mind Flayer’s control. Their bodies melted into slime, which connected to The Mind Flayer, along with other unnamed extras, increasing it in size. We didn’t know them very well. But every death is sad.
Tom Holloway and Bruce Lowe
Tom HollowayandBruce Lowe both worked at Hawkins post where Nancy and Jonathan interned. Like many of the male journalists, both frequently never took their female coworkers seriously, often acting in a crude and misogynistic manner. Bruce often compared Nancy Wheelerunfavorably toNancy Drew, belittling her at every opportunity – even going so far as to prank her following her discovery of the Flayed rats.
Nancy exacted her revenge while Tom and Bob were hunting her and Jonathan through the hospital. They’re both dead now. We’re not sad about it (at all).
Doris Driscoll and The Rats
Poor, sweet, innocent Doris. She just wanted to know why the rats were eating fertiliser in her basement. Instead, she was turned into a member of the Flayed and began frantically eating fertilizer herself. Doris‘s call to The Hawkins Post about the rats helped Nancy figure out that something was amiss in Hawkins. We’re sorry you became part of the flayed and melted into slime with the others. Rest in peace Dorris.
Stranger Things very own terminator. You killed Alexei. We’re not sad you’re gone Grigori.
Don’t get us wrong, We’re glad the Joyce closed the gate, causing The Mind Flayer to collapse and die. We’re just still sad Hopper may be dead because of it. Would we have preferred more terror in Hawkins and others to be in peril a little while longer so Hopper could have reached safety? Yes.
Let’s be honest – Alexei‘s death was the most heartbreaking thing to ever happen in the entire history of Stranger Things, ever. (Sorry Barb, sorry Bob). Its been 3 weeks and we are STILL sobbing.
Alexei was a man of simple needs. A cherry Slurpee from 7 Eleven, a Burger King, and an episode of Looney Tunes. It’s all he needed. I mean sure, he did work for the Russians. But he strayed from the dark side in the end! How could he not when Hopper was so, so very kind to him. (A strawberry Slurpee, Hopper? Really?).
We’re so sorry Grigori found you. Proving you could outsmart the American capitalist system at the funfair was really not worth your death. 7-11 (July 11th) will forever be known as cherry Slurpee day in your honour. (Booking my flight to America right now so I can get one from 7 Eleven next year).
Oh, Billy. We finally began to understand you. Sure, you might have been an antagonistic bully in season 2, but this season we learned why! We didn’t get to see you reach your full potential, but you sacrificed yourself for El, and you had your moment with Max in the end. You redeemed yourself some, and we’ll really miss your hair, too.
Hopper isn’t dead. We don’t believe it. He can’t be. How are we going to survive Season 4 without El‘s “dear old dad?”. We won’t have to. We refuse to. It’s not happening. We will sacrifice all the Starbucks lattes we have to in order to bribe The Duffer Brothers to bring him back. He’ll be back. We’ll make it happen.
Is someone cutting onions in here? My eyes are sweating.
Let’s Talk About The Post-Credits Scene. Who is ‘The American” in the Cell? Here’s Why It Might Not Be Hopper…
It’s just wishful thinking really. Will‘s body was faked in season one, maybe Barb met the same fate?
Remember this guy? Yeah, we don’t much like him either. We learn he raised Eleven in season one through flashbacks (she even called him “Papa”). As director of Hawkins National Laboratory, Dr. Brenner forced her to participate in his experiments.
Through exploration and manipulation of Eleven‘s powers, he created the first portal into The Upside Down, allowing the Demogorgon (and eventually, The Mind Flayer) to enter Hawkins.
Although it looked like he died at the hands of a Demogorgon in season one, his death was never really confirmed onscreen. And in Season 2 episode “Chapter Seven: The Lost Sister”, another scientist claims Brenner is still alive.
Brenner certainly has the knowledge, and it would explain how the Russians even knew about the existence of the upside down, and why to target Hawkins specifically.
Chief Jim Hopper?
It has to be Hopper, right? We know, Joyce turned both keys, causing the laser to explode. But in episode one, we see bodies of those that are burnt. We didn’t see Hopper‘s, so we have hope. It’s entirely possible Hopper climbed down the ladder, into the upside down. He’d been there before, he knows the climate. It’s entirely possible he climbed through hoping to find a way out later.
If this is the case, the Russians may have retrieved him, putting him into their cell. We also see a Demogorgon in the post credits scene, which means the Russians likely have a way into the upside down.
Kingdom Hearts 3launched with 5 million units sold within the first week of it being released. Between Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kingdom Hearts 3 spans a gap of 13 years. During this time, Square Enix developed and released other games within the series. Such as 358/2 Days, Birth By Sleep, and Dream Drop Distance – which are all available to play on PS4 under the title “Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far.” Following Kingdom Hearts 3, Square also put out theKingdom Hearts VR Experience. The VR Experience is available for free on the PlayStation Store.
The VR Experience is finally getting an update after a long, long wait. Following the release in February, fans were anticipating the update – now in works to be released to PlayStation users on July 24/25 2019. The Kingdom Hearts VR Experience isn’t considered a full game, more so a mini game that allows users to witness key points of the Kingdom Heartsseries. Users interact with the heartless, allowing them to whack the creatures with Sora’sKeyblade.
What We Can Look Forward To
A new update for VR includes the Olympus Coliseum world that is based around Hercules. Previously, users could pick from experiences within the Gummi Ship and Destiny Islands, where Sora, Riku, and Kairi grew up before they were thrown into the battle for Kingdom Hearts. The game is in 360 VR, all set from Sora’s point of view, and serves as a way for players to get familiar with the history of the game – or for die-hard fans to relive it from the beginning in a different and exciting way.
The experience shows flashbacks from previous games within the series. Along with glimpses of characters like Aqua, Axel, Roxas, and Xion, with glistening stars in the sky as the Destiny Islands trio look on at the sunset. It’s a very cute addition to the series for fans, even if it’s not technically “playable.” Anything to hold fans over until the release ofKingdom Hearts 4, right?
