The English enigma, YUNGBLUD, delivers with a statement in Parents music video
Yesterday was a big day for the fans of up-and-coming musician Dominic Harrison better known as YUNGBLUD released the highly anticipated music video for his song “Parents”, after leaving hints and surprises in a scavenger hunt around the world for fans to find.
With such blunt and controversial lyrics it’s no surprise that the music video delivered exactly that. From dancing on his own grave to homophobia to intercourse between a preacher and a teacher, he shows exactly what the lyrics tell you. No visual metaphor needed.
The video gives us a very early pop punk vibe with its fast movement, teen angst, satirical characters, and live performance. Think Blink-182, Sum 41 and Slim Shady all rolled together in a single video.
Harrison is definitely this generation’s voice of the voiceless. He is known for speaking his mind on topics such as mental health, gun control and politics. In big letters in the video you can read
guns kill kids.
but can the kids kill the guns?
It’s an obvious fact that this young star will use the platform he is given to speak his opinions in hopes to encourage others to speak theirs.
While waiting for the official video, YUNGBLUD went to the YouTube chatroom and talked to his fans awaiting the release. Here is where he made the announcement of a North American Tour this fall called The Twisted Tales of the Ritalin Club which shares the same name as his upcoming Graphic-Novel in collaboration with Z2 Comics.
