Word’s Out on the 2019 VMA Performers

MTV just announced a list of performances for the 2019 VMAs and you’re going to need both hands to count them all.

Shawn Mendes will be taking the stage again. So will he be ditching the wet shirt this year? Ditching the shirt in general!? This is the third consecutive year he’s performed for the VMAs, and at the young age of 21, this makes him the only seasoned vet. Check out a review of Shawn’s current headlining tour entitled Shawn Mendes: The Tour, here.

Also, one glance at the nominee list, and I bet most could guess that the “You Need to Calm Down” singer, Taylor Swift, will also be taking the stage. At ten nominations total, she shares the most noms with fellow pop singer, Ariana Grande. So don’t tell us we need to calm down, it’s freakin’ Taylor Swift, and homegirl puts on a SHOW.

Meanwhile, cue the flute music. Lizzo is scheduled to perform and there’s no doubt she’ll be bringing the juice and hopefully drink it too, with the high energy she brings to her performances. She’s also up for Best New Artist, with her hit “Truth Hurts” currently standing at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 list, right beneath Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello‘s, “Senorita” charting at number three. Camila will also be performing at this year’s VMAs.

Also up for a Best New Artist nomination, among an impressive seven other noms, Lil Nas X will be taking the stage to the old town road. This will be his VMA debut, alongside fellow first-timers and nominees for VMAs Best Latin: Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and ROSALÍA.
