Taika Waititi is set to direct and write the upcoming 4th Thor movie.
Back in 2017, the box office was rocked by Marvel‘s Thor: Ragnarok. Ragnarok is critically acclaimed as one of Marvel‘s best solo films, standing with a whopping 93% on Rotten Tomatoes!
We have to give credit where credit is due. Even though we loved Thor: Dark World (Mainly for the Loki). It is definitely not one of Marvel‘s best. So there hasn’t been too high of hopes for the third installment.
Yet, enter New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi, who was brought in to direct ‘Thor 3′ and all of that changes. Nobody knew what to expect from the third film….and then the first promo poster dropped.
Since the promotional posters have dropped, fans of the MCU know that they are going to get a new kind of Thor. A new, colorful, 80’s futuristic Thor. It’s clear that Taika wasn’t kidding when he spoke of his plans to, ‘reinvent the franchise’.
So imagine our excitement when we’re told that Taika will not only be directing the 4th installment, but writing it as well. And, watching the “Behind the Scenes” for Ragnarok, shows that most of the comedy was Taika‘s doing on the fly. Just imagine a whole script!
Plus, this movie will make Thor the first ever superhero to receive a 4th standalone movie. And, Chris Hemsworth has stated before that he’ll keep playing Thor as long as “people wanted more”. We do, Chris, we do.
