As Billie Eilish returns to the US to continue her WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP Tour, we decided to shine a spotlight and reflect on how much she’s accomplished since the album release, back in March.
Eilish initially blew up with her song “Ocean Eyes” in 2015. Her principal album, titled dont smile at me included hits such as “idontwannabeyouanymore” and “bellyache”, which was released in 2017. Since then the record has gained over one billion streams for all of its tracks. The young artist’s latest, much-anticipated album came out on March 29th of this year.
This album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?, has many chart-toppers, including “bad guy” and “bury a friend.” A third single, “when the party’s over,” is currently in the Top 50. Even three months after release, the album ranks Top 5 on iTunes charts (it debuted at number one), and “bad guy” has remained in the Top 10. Now, it has over two million units sold in the United States.
Eilish is the second most-played artist on Spotify, with Billboard recently placing her sixth on its list of Hot 100 Songwriters (with her brother, who co-writes her songs, taking number two). Additionally, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? claimed the number one spot on the Billboard 200 when it was first released.
Adding to her popularity, a number of renowned magazines have made Eilish their poster child. Eilish was front page for London ES Magazine in March, Billboard in May, and Vogue Australia and Sunday Times in June. Others include Coup de Main and the sixteenth issue of Garage Magazine (to name a few).
At the end of March, Eilish collaborated with Spotify to open a museum based on the new album called The Billie Eilish Experience. The exhibit contained fourteen rooms (a room for each song), each with different sights, smells and sounds to make for a complete sensory overload. However, the museum was only open for a weekend, so the opportunity was a first-come-first-serve exclusive.

I wanted to create a space in which I could really show you the way I see things. As well as let you hear the album with a good sound system and in an atmosphere that was exactly what it needed to be without anyone having to pay.
I have incredibly intense synesthesia that plays a roll in every aspect of my life and is the reason I create what I create. Every room in the space is made for you to experience it the way I do. Each room has its own color, temperature, smell, texture, shape, and number… just as everything in my head does.Billie Eilish
In April, Eilish performed at Coachella to kick-start her world tour, which officially began on the twenty-fourth. Since then, she’s played in sold-out arenas for hundreds of thousands of people – and she’s only just begun. Most recently she performed in cities across Europe, from England to Denmark and many cities in between. Eilish is due to return in August for a longer portion of the European leg, but for now she’s back in the States to blow all of our minds with her enchanting voice and captivating visuals.
All this being said, let’s appreciate the fact that she’s only seventeen.
